Description
Letter from Eliezer (L.) Philips in New York City to Gabriel Pappe in Philadelphia, dated 1865. Philips requests Leeser's assistance in securing the release and return of his son, Myer Philips, who, despite poor health, enlisted in the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Randolph, which exploded on April 1, 1865. Myer survived the explosion but is seriously ill, and his father seeks to have him discharged and sent home to New York.
