Description

Three-page letter from Nathan Ottinger in New York to Reverend Isaac Leeser in Philadelphia, dated April 1851 (Rosh Hodesh Nissan 5611). Ottinger informs Leeser that he has sold three prayer books and three Pentateuchs, and requests instructions on what to do with the money. He also orders six more Ashkenazic prayer books and, if possible, a set of Sephardic holiday books with translation at the lowest price. He also requests a prayer book in gilt binding. The letter is written in Yiddish, with some annotations in pencil. It includes a wax seal.
